Telescopes: a consistent left-hand reef break in the tropical Mentawai Islands. Accessible only by boat, it's bustling with surfers. Best on a southwest swell with a southeast wind, waves range from 3-10ft. Shallow at low tide, ideal around mid tide. Not too daunting, perfect for reef break rookies, and plenty of barrels to catch!
Icelands offers two distinct vibes: Small Swell Icelands and Big Swell Icelands. Even when other spots are flat, Icelands still serves up head-high, cruisy waves. But when a hefty west swell rolls in, it transforms into a beast with massive barrels. Thanks to a deep ledge, the drop-in isn't too gnarly. The wave then shapes into a horseshoe, delivering thick barrels that spit consistently. It's hands down one of the top big wave spots in the Mentawais.
